Calendar UPDATE

There IS REHEARSAL TUESDAY JAN 3!!!!

I apologize for misreading the school calendar. I thought school started back on that day. With our performance on Jan 12 just around the corner it will be important to get this rehearsal on the 3rd under our belts.

SEE YOU TUESDAY NIGHT AT 6:30! 

Jazz Ensemble Members and parents:

Here are some new dates and some adjustments to the previously communicated dates.

First, to clear up a previously communicated date: We will not be attending any festivals that align to either of the Spring Break weekends. ISU's festival had been on the original calendar I handed out at the beginning of the audition process. that is no longer on the schedule.

Rehearsals are every Tuesday & Thursday that school is in session unless cancellations are 1) posted HERE, or 2) Communicated from the podium at Concert Band rehearsal or 3) you receive a text message from ME at last minute due to an emergency.

January


JAN 12 - FRESHMAN OPEN HOUSE - Call Time 5:30. Play 6-6:30 in large gym.


rehearsal on Jan 19 is cancelled (I am out of town)

Feb.

3 or 4 (waiting to hear which date we are assigned) Dunlap High School Jazz festival

11 - Evanston Township High School Jazz festival

March

6 - (tentative date for a joint concert with U-High and other local bands at Stroud Auditorium at U-High)

17 - Normal West Jazz Night

April

I am looking for performance opportunities for the band. (If you know of a civic group that may be interested please contact me.)   Hope to secure a date at the Normal Coffee House or some other open venue. Stay tuned.

ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

Hey Band -

We need to get a band photo taken this Tuesday at rehearsal. Come to rehearsal dressed like you would for a jazz concert or festival. No jeans or T-Shirts. Collared shirts and slacks please. Please pass the word to your band mates.

Week of Dec 12

Another good rehearsal!!! Thanks for continuing to work hard during our rehearsals.

As mentioned in rehearsal Thursday, there are now two confirmed dates on the calendar:

Feb3/4 - Dunlap High School Jazz Festival, Dunlap, IL (more details are forthcoming but we have to wait to see if we are slotted for Friday night or Saturday. Dunlap is about 1/5 hours Northwest of Normal. This will be our first festival performance and maybe our first public outing. I will be announcing the program for that shortly after we return from break.

Feb 11 - Evanston Township High School Jazz Festival. This will be an early morning leave/ late evening return trip.

I NEED TO KNOW A DEFINITE ANSWER  BY TUESDAY DEC 13 AS TO WHETHER YOU ARE INTERESTED AND AVAILABLE FOR THIS REHEARSAL IN LIGHT OF YOUR FINAL EXAM SCHEDULE!! YOU SHOULD NOT FEEL OBLIGATED TO SAY YES!! Keep your finals at the top of your priority list.

If we have a enough folks to make it meaningful we will rehearse. Another option is that is we have full section or two we may schedule some sectionals for that night.

Tentative rehearsal agenda:
