For parents seeking driving directions on the web, visit www.eths.k12.il.us, or www.ethsbands.com.

Dress Code for all public performances:
In case you missed this in one my earlier posts.....
So, I have always believed that you play best when you are most comfortable. If you were to go to the premier clubs in New York City you rarely, if ever, see anyone wearing a standard "suit." Most of the adjudicators that are "real jazzers" that we will see also do not wear a formal suit or tux when they perform. It is counter intuitive to the culture of today's jazz mainstream.
I do believe that when representing the school, me and your family, you should always try to look your best. In an effort to meet in the middle on that, this year I would like to try having the "uniform" be a sport coat, dress shirt with no tie for the guys coupled with "nice" jeans (no rips, cuts, holes in them) worn on the waist and with a belt. In other words, swap the slacks that match your suit for a decent looking pair of jeans. Ladies, if you could match a nice blouse/top to a nice pair of jeans that will work just fine. No tennis shoes of any kind.
That having been said, please don't tell your parents they need to go spend a bunch of money on this outfit. When we took the picture, all the guys had coats on. Those will work with jeans.

Rhythm section gets the night off. Also, there will be NO REHEARSAL on THURSDAY 1/19. I will be travelling to California that day.

You may be wondering about Freshman Orientation on Wednesday. After talking it over with Mr. Meadows we have decided not to perform that night due to not being able to hold a full rehearsal on Tuesday to brush up on the tunes again and with my being out of town.

Upcoming Dates to mark on your calendar:

Trivia Night Tickets

Happy New Year!

As you may know, all band students received packets last week for Trivia Night.  Details about Trivia Night are as follows:

When:  Friday, February 3
                Doors Open at 6:00 pm
                Trivia Starts at 6:30 pm

Where: NCHS, 3900 E. Raab Road, Normal
Who:     Anyone 6th grade and up.

-          Ticket price includes admission, water/lemonade and popcorn.  Nobody will be admitted without a ticket.  People are welcome to bring their own food or drinks if they wish – PLEASE NOTE:  STATE LAW PROHIBITS ALCOHOL OR TOBACCO USE ON SCHOOL PREMISES!!
-          A cash prize will be awarded to the grand prize winners.  There will also be several raffle prizes, a 50/50 drawing, and other door prizes throughout the evening.
-          All ticket sales are final – no refunds will be given.
-          Since Trivia Night will be held on the Friday of Super Bowl weekend, everyone is encouraged to wear a jersey or some other shirt of their favorite football team!

-          Each student received 8 tickets to sell.  Tickets cost $10 each and must be paid for when they are purchased.

-          Registration form and money are due back to Mr. Meadows or Mr. Masterman by Friday, January 27.

-          We will be making a seating chart for the night based on the registration forms received, which is why it’s VERY important to have the registration and money turned in by January 27.  Each table will have 8 players.  Enclosed are 8 tickets and a registration form, with 8 spots.  We will need the first and last name of the purchaser, and how many tickets they need.

We will be requesting both student and adult volunteers for the night of the event – a signup will be posted to Jooners early next week.

The event WILL be rescheduled if there is bad weather on February 3.

If you have any questions or need more information, please contact Terri Hoss at rumom1@frontier.com.

Dress Code for performances:
So, I have always believed that you play best when you are most comfortable. If you were to go to the premier clubs in New York City you rarely, if ever, see anyone wearing a standard "suit." Most of the adjudicators that are "real jazzers" that we will see also do not wear a formal suit or tux when they perform. It is counter intuitive to the culture of today's jazz mainstream.

No tennis shoes of any kind.
That having been said, please don't tell your parents they need to go spend a bunch of money on this outfit. When we took the picture, all the guys had coats on. Those will work with jeans.
I will be wearing a representative sample outfit on Tuesday night (for the guys) so you can take your cues on how to dress from that.

Call Time for Thursday Jan 12:

We will play from 6:00 - 6:25 or whenever we run out of music.
